BYOD
Students are expected to bring a digital device suitable for the purposes of learning to school. It is preferable that students bring a laptop. The use of such devices in the classroom is at the discretion of the teacher. We do not condone the use of such devices outside this authorisation.
The minimum specification for a laptop is:
- 8GB RAM
- 128GB SSD drive
- 14" or larger
Noel Leeming has provided the following BYOD devices which are suitable:
The purchasing of devices beyond the minimum specification is at the discretion of parents/caregivers.
At Feilding High School, we use Microsoft Office 365 which includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and OneDrive (which provides 1TB of cloud storage).
Students can access the Microsoft 365 Apps by logging on to the office website using their school e-mail address and password - the format for the student e-mail is [email protected] e.g [email protected]
NOTE: Apple laptops like the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro can also be used at school with the Office 365 suite but far exceed our minimum specifications.
NOTE: Chromebooks can be used in a pinch with the web based versions of Office 365. However, their usability beyond web based software is limited.
