Although technically not a sport, tramping is an extremely popular outdoor activity of many students at Feilding High School. Ably led by experienced trampers, Chris Tocker and John Beech, students regularly venture into the Ruahine, Tararua, Kaimanawa Ranges and the Tongariro National Park. Times range from 1 day to 1 week tramps and often include excursions across Cook Strait.
