The Music Department provides a range of musical experiences through our Music classes, Itinerant Music program and co-curricular activities.

Music classes 

  • Year 9 Music is run as a band, where students come into class, choose an instrument and learn to play in a concert band. They spend 80% of this class performing.

  • Year 10 Music – prepares students for NCEA L1 Music, working through, theory, aural, Music history, composition and performance.

  • Year 11-13 Music works through the NCEA L1-L3 standards based around Theory, Music Works, Composition and Performance.

Specialist music teachers, who come into our school once a week, teach the instruments. Students come out of class on a rotating timetable to attend lessons.
