FAHS Kapa Haka group is Te Rau Huia – the huia feather, taken from the school emblem of the three huia feathers within the crest.
This year, 2011, the group comprises over 50 members and is led by senior students Waitapu Potaka and Ronnie-Jordan Searancke. The group practises on Tuesdays and Fridays, with after school practices when they are needed. This year the group is entering Pae Taiohi, the Regional Secondary Schools Kapa Haka competition, to be held at The Regent Theatre in Palmerston North on July 11th.
