Horticulture is an option subject in Years 9 and 10. There is a school horticulture garden, orchard, hydroponics and glasshouse area that is maintained and managed by the students.
Students propagate and grow a variety of plants which can then be taken home.
The teaching programme focuses on using practical skills to reinforce the theoretical and academic aspects of the courses.
Full NCEA courses are offered at Years 11 and 12. Year 13 offers a single NZQA Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences programme.
