basketballBasketball is one of the most successful sports at Feilding High School. We last year we had eight teams competing in the secondary school competition. Six teams made semi-finals, four went on to make the finals and our Junior Girls and Senior Boys won their respective grades. The boys beat Palmerston North Boys High School, handing them their first defeat in over 15 years.

Darron Larsen is the Head of Basketball at Feilding High School and coached the Senior Boys and Junior Girls in 2012. He has an impressive CV that includes Tall Blacks Assistant/Video Analyst, Head Coach of the NZ Universities Team, Head Coach of the Jets from 2005-2007, Hawkes Bay Hawks Assistant Coach 2008-2009 and current Jets Assistant Coach.

In December 2011 the Senior Boys team toured California which was the first tour of its kind for basketball. In 2014 we will be taking both the Senior Girls and Senior Boys back to California and intend to make this tour a biennial event. The tour is designed to give life experience and opportunities to our students to gain exposure to US high schools and universities. There is also the opportunity for the right student athletes to gain scholarships. Will you be the first?
